The Gridley Hollow Honey Co. Story

It all started in 1989 when a friend gave us a hive of bees. We were really excited about keeping honeybees. They are amazing insects and we love to just sit and watch them come and go from the hives. After adding a few more hives, we  thought it would be an enjoyable business for the whole family to bee involved in.

Over the last 26 years, we have grown into a full time, family oriented commercial business, producing  natural, raw, artisanal honey, beeswax candles and natural soaps.

We are located in upstate New York, in a valley beneath Virgil Mountain. We currently have apiaries nearby in Broome, Tompkins and Cortland counties.

Our bees forage on tree blossoms and  abundant wildflowers on acres and acres of wild land as well as vacant farmland, allowing them to produce wonderful honey in a natural environment.

Our honey has a diverse flavor from year to year, due to the wide variety of nectar sources available and how each one blooms and is effected by the variations in the weather.

We are not migratory and our bees winter here on their summer locations.

God has provided all that we needed to grow and care for our bees over the years and we praise Him for everything he has done in our lives.

Psalm 19: 7 – 11

7  The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

8  The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes

9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

11  Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
